Jamesie Fournier
Knocking Under the Ice
Examining the parallels between Inuit storytelling and modern horror narratives, Jamesie Fournier explores the importance of being afraid and how the other side comes back to haunt us for our own damn good.

Jamesie Fournier enjoys exploring his culture through writing. Born and raised in Denendeh, Jamesie lives and works in Iqaluit, NU. His debut fiction, The Other Ones, published with Inhabit Media, won silver at the 2022 Independent Publisher Book Awards. His debut poetry collection, Elements, was shortlisted for the 2024 Indigenous Voices Award and won the 2024 NorthWords Book Award. Jamesie was part of the 2024 Audible Indigenous Writer’s Circle, the 2024 NBC Universal Indigenous Screenwriting Program, and spoke at the 2024 Inuit Art Symposium in Montreal. Jamesie was also a consulting producer for the 2024 CBC Massey Lecture in Iqaluit. Jamesie’s premiere children’s book, Lemming’s First Christmas became available during the 2024 holiday season.
